You are Invited to Celebrate 30 Years of Exploring the Role of Technology in Teaching and Learning!
It is hard to believe that the first Apple microcomputer was created in the garage of Steve Jobs with Steve Wozniak in 1976! It took over 10 years for Apple to develop and market their first successful product, the Apple II in 1977 - an 8-bit home computer, with the 6502 microprocessor, a 24 lines by 40 column display, and 4kB of RAM. That same year the Commodore PET 2001 and RadioShack TRS-80 were also introduced to the personal computing market. What a difference 30 years has made!!!
Christa said, “I touch the future, I teach!” Teachers in the 21st century must teach students to think, explore, learn, communicate, collaborate, and create using a diverse array of digital resources. In Christa’s memory and vision, the Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference has provided a platform for New England educators to share their experiences and expertise since 1986! The venue has changed, the technology has evolved, but the relationships formed at CMTC continue to grow and expand each and every year.
Please join us as we celebrate 30 years of educators sharing and networking with educators to prepare “our” students for “their” future.
Celebration activities include birthday cake, balloons, and lots of fun each afternoon ~ Tuesday and Wednesday during the “health break” and Thursday during the closing session. Additional birthday surprises are happening throughout each day as well ~ come celebrate with us!
Explore the EdTech Museum in the Bloggers’ Café and remember how much technology has changed over the past 30 years. This will be an amazing walk down memory lane!
If you missed it at CMTC 2016, please check out the EdTech Timeline online it was located in the hallway just past the Main Registration Desk on the way to the parking garage. Created by 5 student teams, from elementary to high school, they highlight 50 years of the major milestones in the development of educational technology. Add your own memories to the timeline and relive the role technology has played in education and explore the influence education of on technology growth and development!
