Personalized Student Pathways for Student Competencies & ELOs Tony Baldasaro, VLACS, and Scott Prescott, VLACS |
|
21 Level: Beginner Grades: 9-12 |
Through the Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS), local schools can offer their students the opportunity to meet competencies virtually, at a place and a pace that best meets their needs. By partnering with VLACS, schools can provide their students with the opportunity to recover competencies immediately. Additionally, partner schools can help students develop Experiential Learning Opportunities (ELOs). Using VLACS competencies, students can earn high school credit through a blend of experience and virtual education. Presenters demonstrate how to access the VLACS public competency database to either map local competencies with VLACS competencies as well as how to help their students access VLACS ELOs. |

21 Level: Intermediate Grades: All |
Join a school administrator in a frank and transparent discussion of our roles as educators and our responsibilities as learning leaders to our communities. Participants learn of his ongoing transformation as a learning leader as they begin the process of transforming themselves as learning leaders.Transparency, vulnerability and connectivity are all terms that will be explored. The role our current Acceptable Use Policies play in either hindering or supporting your role as a learning leader are addressed. Included in that discussion is the role my learning community of SAU16 played in constructing a new Responsible Use Policy in the spring of 2009. Participants who are currently blogging, active on Twitter, and/or social bookmarking sites OR who want to be more involved in social learning are encouraged to attend. |
