Experience a range of classroom practices using freely available tools from Google. Using these tools, participants are able to set up simple digital portfolios, create paperless activities, automate corrections, and combine tools to provide students with instant digital feedback from data studies. Participants leave with examples they have created and can use in classroom settings to increase efficiency and learning opportunities for students. Participants are encouraged to sign up for a free gmail account online before attending this session.

Google Sites as High School Portfolios

In this session participants will have an opportunity to view digital portfolios and classroom sites from students and staff at the Lubec High School in Lubec, Maine. The school signed up for the Google Apps for Education and staff and students have developed classroom sites and student portfolios. Participants will see multiple classroom and portfolio sites on laptop computers. Presenter will be available to speak to strategies for engaging students in the portfolio development. Participants will have an understanding of how to use Google Sites to engages students and aid teachers in organizing class content.

BYOL: 39 Clues ~ Engaging Young Readers

Explore the 39 Clues book series and the educational resources available from Scholastic in and effort to engage young readers and foster development of various skills, including collaboration and problem solving. Participants log into the website and begin their Mission. Participants also have an opportunity to explore the book series and the website and discuss age appropriate lessons.
