Children are drawn to technology. This session explores ways to use Smart Boards, computers, and gaming platforms to augment traditional methods and deepen understanding of mathematical and science concepts. We focus on childrens' acquisition of spatial understandings. The participants are able to define spatial sense concepts and learn how technology can help us provide both informal and structured activities that support development. Practice choosing appropriate goals for children ages 2-8 years old. These goals will be linked to New Hampshire Mathematics Curriculum Frameworks and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) guidelines. Also experience assessing spatial learning as you observe videotaped examples of children engaged in technologically based spatial learning. |
