|
* ET Level: Beginner Grades: K-16 |
Explore how Bug-in-the Ear Technology (BIE) has been used for improving the performance of pre-service and inservice teachers and the learning outcomes for their students. Research has demonstrated that immediate feedback which is postive, correct, and specific is an effective educational practice that improves teacher attitude and performance (Rock, Gregg, Thead, Acker, Gable and Zigmond, 2009). BIE is an affordable, portable system that includes an earpiece, a wireless earpiece adapter, web cam, and Skype that is able to provide immediate virtual feedback to teachers. Presenters report on a review of the research on how this technology is currently being used in the field of teacher education. The presenters also describe their experiences using the technology to improve the coaching and monitoring of preservice teachers' progress in their internships. Participants observe the set up of the equipment and a demonstration of how the technology is actually used. This is followed by a question and answer period. As a result of this session, participants are able to state the uses of BIE in improving teacher performance and student outcome and describe how BIE equipment is set up for use. |
