This session is intended for educators with prior experience and technical skills in live video-based teaching and/or producing video-based learning materials who would like to step up to using a production tool with more sophisticated features. Participants will get an overview of Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), a highly customizable no-cost open-source tool that is in widespread use for a variety of Internet-based live and pre-recorded video purposes. OBS is cross-platform, with versions for Windows, MacOS, and Linux, and works in any video streaming or recording environment including Zoom and Google Meet. This online session will focus on its application in teaching and learning, demonstrating some of its basic and advanced features while used live in presenting the session. Available resources and tutorials for installing and using OBS will be discussed and shared during the 50-minute session as well as the conference extension.
