Best Practices to Maintain Student Privacy in Google Workspace & MS365
Jonathan Miller, Managed Methods, and Charles Mogen, Managed Methods

Level: Intermediate
Grades: All, Administrative
Learn about the cybersecurity strategies used to help maintain student privacy within Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. School districts are using Google and Microsoft cloud applications to keep schools connected as blended learning increases. But with more school access by students coming from outside of school, there is more email communication, messaging, file sharing, and file storage taking place inside of school district cloud environments. The introduction of video conferencing over the course of the past year has also made it more difficult to protect student privacy. Further, this activity is more frequently occurring from home or other locations, and the traditional on-premises security measures that districts have had in place don't always catch what happens outside of school buildings and networks. Hear from a district technology director about the student activity taking place most in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, and how to better monitor and protect it all. Attendees will learn some best practices that district IT teams can implement to better protect students and their privacy in the cloud. From anywhere, at any time.
